Hong Kong Hiking?

June9

I am amazed with all the green space in Hong Kong once you get out of the city! Some really good trail running here as long as you are ok with some vertical running or a short bus ride. Pollution doesn’t seem too bad or anything either.

Fun hike along the “Dragon’s Back” today and just a little bit of rain at the end…

Singapore Trip 2013!

April7

I jumped over to Singapore last month to visit a friend + swing by a SoftLayer DC to take a look (we use them for servers). It was an AMAZING trip! Michael, Angela, and baby Daryl are the best hosts in the world :)

Back in 2008 I visited Singapore (I was on the way to see my brother, mom, and sis in Taiwan (Nick was teaching there)). It was a fantastic trip where Michael introduced me to Peking Duck and some of the best food I’ve ever had. And luckily I got to see/eat even more this time. It is crazy how much the city has grown since then. When I picture Singapore I think of the city in Ghost in Shell and I don’t think that is far off the mark. It feels very futuristic sometimes.

Amazing Building
They built this giant casino resort that at any moment looks like it is going to take off just like the flying aircraft carrier in avengers. I couldn’t stop staring at this thing, it is one of the most amazing buildings I’ve ever seen. Right up there with the Pyramids and the Brooklyn bridge.

And the view from the top of said amazing building…

And the awesome greenhouse and other areas below said amazing building…

AMAZING FOOD
I can’t say that enough about the food in Singapore, it has to be the best food in the world! The combination of cultures is amazing. The best Indian food I’ve ever had by far, the best Chinese food, etc etc. We did a small road trip to Malacca Malaysia too and I was shown even more delicious food. It was hard to find room for it all :). If you haven’t tried Sambal yet please do (spicy and good on Sting Ray).

Malacca Malaysia and night market!
And here are a few shots from Malacca Malaysia! Which was a great road trip and I’m hoping to make it back here at some point to explore more.

Plus the best part was hanging out with Michael, Angela, and little Daryl. It’s been a while since I got to throw my little sister up in the air and make funny faces at her (prob hasn’t been too long on that one). Daryl is an awesome kid with some great parents :)

Oh, and this is the doorway I want to my house/fort/office :):

Pictures From Japan

March13

Descriptions and titles if you click the image. Basically my trip went North to Sappora, then to Abashari where I took an ice breaking boat out to sea, then back to Sappora, then down to Kyoto for temples and a palace, then to Hiroshima for the memorial, then to Kagoshima for a ferry to this awesome island called Yakushima. This island inspired the director of Princess Monokyo and the forest was amazing, trees as old as 3,000 years old. Ferry was a bit rough to get there though, 3 hours through dark stormy seas with huge huge waves (fun! especially when you were smart enough to remember Dramamine). Then back to Tokyo for 8 days and met up with Gina and Eunah for 3 days while they were visiting from Korea! They were a ton of fun, and hopefully I get to visit them in Korea at some point!!

Explanation of each picture and comments if you click through to the picture…. These are roughly in chronological order of the above trip outline too.

This is bwb’s personal blog, so he can share his thoughts with the world, however scary or silly they might be. Plus family and friends can track what I am up to, and where I am in the world.

I am pretty simple. I love Mangos. I love the ocean (although mostly at sunset, as I’m a ginger). I love to travel, eat exotic food, do long bike rides, read, and use my imagination. At some point, I decided it was better to be a pirate captain than an admiral. I am a globalist and see the entire world as my responsibility and playground. And I am married to an amazing woman who makes life even more fun :)! And we are now the proud parents of Calico Jack :).
